Paint the Harbor: Camp USF week kicks off with a Harbor makeover

University of South Florida St. Petersburg held Paint the Harbor this week, hosting professional chalk art, a friendship bracelet station, face painting, tie-dying shirts and a photo booth with free Polaroid pictures. This event kickstarted Camp USF week, which hosts other events like Namaste by the Bay, USFSP’S Got Talent, Water Day at Lake Coquina and Campfire Movie Night to end the week.

The rain didn’t stop local chalk artist Truman Adams from painting the harbor with a 3D version of a campfire.

“I’ve been doing this for about 10 years now,” Adams said. His job has allowed him to travel to places like Dubai for chalk art festivals.

Alongside Adam’s art, students chalked down their best qualities, what they want to do before they die and what their superpower would be if they could choose. After students received their free USFSP camp shirts, they lined up to give them some color by tie-dying the shirts. Students could also get temporary tattoos and face paintings.

The photo booth was also big hit. Students were able to climb in this cozy camp-themed tent and get their picture taken with a Polaroid camera.
