Brianne Patterson is a second-year student at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg with a major in Biology who expresses herself through her unique fashion sense and confidence.
“I chose USF for the small campus, to be able to move away from home and learn how to become more independent,” Patterson said. “I really felt called to the school and accepted my admission offer before even visiting. The programs here are great, and the professors are very invested in their students.”
Patterson grew up in Pembroke Pines, Florida. “I grew up in a nice neighborhood. It was almost some sort of archetype. Behind my high-school was a creek and just past it is where my friends and I would sometimes watch the cows and horses as a pastime,” Patterson said.
Patterson has been a biology major for the last two years. Recently, she decided to make the switch from biology to architecture. This is a big change for her, but she is ready to face the new challenges.
“Some major changes have been happening in my life that have caused others to question me, but I choose to ignore them and keep pushing through,” said Patterson.
Patterson said she chose architecture because of her “passion and drive to serve and help others. Architecture is just a better tool to fulfill that passion,” Patterson said.
Apart from school, her other hobbies include sewing, doing hair and learning new skills. One day she hopes to have her own line of clothing just for fun.
“Fashion has been a part of me since a young age,” said Patterson. “I have always been into clothing and modeling. Creating outfits that convey a mood, attitude or just cause it looks cool is what drew me in.”
“My biggest goal this year to take of myself physically and spiritually,” Patterson said. She hopes to take her health more seriously and grow closer to God while doing so.
“I am proud of the fact that I don’t waiver whenever others try to make me question the reason for what I do,” said Patterson. “From these photos, I want others to see a girl who is just doing her, and encourage them to do the same,” Patterson said.
